BREAKING: Hudspeth County Sheriff’s deputy injured during high-speed chase

A Hudspeth County Sheriff’s deputy injured during a high-speed pursuit was flown to University Medical Center on Monday evening.

Hudspeth County Sheriff Arvin West said the deputy crashed and possibly suffered some broken bones, but is in stable condition. The deputy was flown from the Van Horn airport to University Medical Center in El Paso.

West also said a man and woman are in custody.

Though details are limited, it started when a vehicle drove past the Sierra Blanca Border Patrol checkpoint and led border agents on a chase.

A Border Patrol spokesman said the border agents stopped pursuing the vehicle when sheriff’s deputies joined the chase.

West said some game wardens were also “instrumental” in taking the two suspects into custody.

West said the deputy was flown from the Van Horn airport to UMC in El Paso.
