Document: Suspect ran over pedestrian about to give suspect’s girlfriend a ride

The man suspected of running over a pedestrian in a strip club’s parking lot was allegedly angry because the pedestrian was about to give the suspect’s girlfriend a ride, court documents state.

George Galvan, 23, is charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Police said Galvan was driving a grey 2007 Toyota Camry in the parking lot of the Tequila Sunrise at 11701 Gateway West.

A witness told police Galvan was “doing donuts” with his vehicle in the parking lot. When Galvan noticed 34-year-old Lee Tate was about to give Galvan’s girlfriend a ride, Galvan allegedly ran over Tate.

The alleged assault happened at about 2:10 am March 17, 2017. Tate sustained a serious leg injury that required treatment at Del Sol Medical Center, police said.

Police said Galvan fled the scene, parked his vehicle in the parking lot of the Red Roof Inn on the 11400 block of Chito Samaniego, and later walked back to Tequila Sunrise.

Witnesses at the scene forced Galvan to the ground and held him until police arrived.

A court document obtained by ABC-7 states Galvan told police officers at the scene he ran over Tate because Tate threatened him with a knife earlier that night. Police did not find any knifes at the scene.

Galvan was booked into the county jail on a $20,000 bond.
