NMSU says Tanveer Bhullar is leaving the basketball team

New Mexico State head basketball coach Paul Weir says that 7’2″ center Tanveer Bhullar will be leaving the basketball team to either transfer to another school or play professionally.

Bhullar is eligible to graduate from NMSU with a degree in sociology this semester and could then become a graduate transfer. Bhullar could also follow in the footsteps of his brother, Sim, who turned pro after a career at NMSU.

Sim Bhullar briefly spent time with the Sacramento Kings and currently plays pro basketball in Taiwan.

Tanveer Bhullar played fewer minutes under Weir than he did under previous head coach Marvin Menzies, averaging just 2.7 points per game last season.

Bhullar averaged 3.9 points per game for his career to go along with 3.5 rebounds per contest.

“Tanveer has been an absolute pleasure to coach in my time here,” Weir said. “I can’t thank him enough for everything he’s done for us and we all wish him nothing but the best at his future destination.”

Bhullar is originally from Ontario, Canada.
