El Paso Police investigating heist at local Kmart

A Kmart in central El Paso was broken into early Friday morning.

The incident happened just before 6 am on the 6300 block of Montana. ABC-7’s Round the Clock crew spotted six different police units and a fire truck outside. Fire crews are assisting police with the investigation.

Employees tell ABC-7 they haven’t been inside, but were alerted of the break-in. As of 7 am, employees were being allowed back in the store.

ABC-7 has gotten reports that jewelry may have been the target of the break-in. Police have not confirmed that information.

ABC-7’s Round the Clock crew is on the scene and is working to gather more details on this story.
