Chapin softball holds off Eastlake in thriller to advance to Sweet 16
The Chapin Huskies defeated the Eastlake Falcons by a score of 9-8 Friday night to win the series, 2-0, and advance to the regional semifinals of the Class 5A state softball playoffs.
Eastlake jumped out to an early 3-0 lead and looked to be in control of the game until the Huskies came alive and scored nine runs in the fifth inning.
Eastlake would not go away though. Trailing 9-3 in the sixth, Savannah Wysocki unloaded a grand slam to cut the deficit to 9-7.
The Falcons would add another run late to make it a 9-8 game, but Chapin was able to hold off the Eastlake comeback from there.
Chapin had previously defeated Eastlake by a score of 3-1 in game one of the series on Thursday.
Chapin is now one of the final 16 teams still alive in Class 5A in Texas.
