Man accused of fleeing from police wanted on slew of charges

Police arrested and charged a man accused of fleeing from officers responding to a family violence call early Sunday morning.

Rafael Reyez, 25, was charged with Evading Arrest or Detention.

At about 12:30 am Sunday, police were responding to a home on the 5700 block of Creston.

When officers arrived, Reyes allegedly fled from the officers by jumping fences and running through backyards on the 5700 block of Devon.

Officers, with the assistance of a police K-9, were able to track Reyes to a residential backyard.

When Reyes was not found in the backyard, a helicopter crew with the Texas Department of Public Safety spotted Reyes on the home’s roof.

Police say Reyes jumped off the roof and ran to another backyard, where he was once again located by K-9 and DPS Air Support.

When Reyes was taken into custody, police learned he had five outstanding municipal court warrants and outstanding warrants for Assault Family Violence with Previous Conviction, Burglary of Habitation with Intent to Commit a Felony, Burglary of Habitation, and Aggravated Assault with Deadly Weapon.

Reyes was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on Bonds totaling $131,446.
