Police identify man killed in freeway wreck Saturday morning

Special Traffic Investigators identified the man killed on the freeway early Saturday morning.

It happened shortly before 2 am on I-10 East mile marker 20.

Police say an investigation revealed 30-year-old Ramon Tells Lopez was driving east on I-10 when he lost control of the vehicle and collided into a concrete barrier.

Lopez was transported to University Medical Center where he passed away.

Police say no other vehicles were involved.

The deadly wreck remains under investigation.

This was the 16th traffic fatality of the year, police said.
