Chapin softball headed for regional championship

The Chapin softball team entered the history books Friday afternoon after topping Aledo 7-5 in the Class 5A Regional Semifinals, and marked the first time the team is headed to the Elite 8.

The team returned to El Paso, Texas Saturday from their game in Odessa, and were greeted by cheering parents all while hoisting the regional semifinal trophy above their heads.

“Its amazing, it’s a great experience I couldn’t ask for any better teammates,” Second baseman, Alexia Morales said. “They are amazing. El Paso, we won this for you guys.”

A great accomplishment for the team this season, but Head Coach Kevin Mills said they are still hungry for more.

“It’s thrilling, we have talked about it and we have worked for this,” Mills said. “But its still just almost unreal, its a lot of fun, and like we said we want to keep this going now.”

Chapin will face off with Canyon in next weekend’s regional final. Canyon defeated Birdville on Friday night to advance.
