El Paso Police issue warning regarding email scam

Police have been made aware of an email scam regarding the collection of fines related to traffic and parking citations.

Police want the public to know the department does not send collection notices – mail or email – and does not call citizens to imform them about an outstanding citation.

The City of El Paso’s Municipal Court system is responsible for the collection of fines related to citations.

“If you received any correspondence from the El Paso Police Department in regards to paying fines it is safe to say it is a scam,” a police spokesperson said in a video posted on Twitter.
