FBI seeks help in beating of Border Patrol agent
The FBI is asking the public for information regarding the assault of a Border Patrol agent late Thursday night.
The off-duty agent, who is now listed in stable condition, is assigned to the Deming, N.M., Border Patrol Station. A motorist discovered the agent suffering from multiple, serious injuries about 11 p.m. on the side of the road.
The agent was taken to a nearby hospital with wounds to his head, chest, and hands.
Customs and Border Protection is assisting the FBI, the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office, and the El Paso Police Department in the ongoing investigation.
CBP reminded its law enforcement personnel to “be alert and aware of their surroundings and potential threats related to their service.”
Anyone with information on the assault is asked to call the police immediately.
This is the second off-duty Border Patrol agent assaulted in the El Paso Sector in the past three weeks. Agent Isaac Morales died after being stabbed in the eye May 20.
