Black bear spotted in Radium Springs
A small black bear was spotted this week in the Radium Springs area just north of Las Cruces, and officer with the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish told ABC-7.
Officer Dan Williams said a couple of officers were sent out to see if they could spot the bear but didn’t find it.
Game and Fish officers urge residents who spot a bear to leave it alone. The public is also asked not feed them, leave food out, or put trash out until its due to be picked up.
Black bears inhabit most of New Mexico, while brown bears, commonly known as grizzlies, are found farther north. Black bears can be brown in color or even blonde (light brown).
