Man accused of selling meth while riding bike, allegedly in possession of heroin
A court document obtained by ABC-7 states an alleged drug dealer was caught in the act while riding a bike in Central Las Cruces.
Christopher Harbarger, 32, of Las Cruces, is charged with possession of paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
The document state Harbarger was riding his bicycle Saturday July 1, 2017 south on Solano, where he ran a stop sign.
An officer pursued Harbarger and later noticed a Harbarger involved in a hand-to-hand drug transaction, the court document states.
The document further states the officer noticed Harbarger handing what appeared to be narcotics to two men walking on the sidewalk. At that point, the officer went after Harbarger, who allegedly fled the scene.
After a short chase, police officers was able to arrest the suspect.
The document states officers discovered a pocket knife, a large bag of methamphetamine, four small baggies of packaged methamphetamine, and a small amount of heroin and $625.00 in Harbarger’s possession.
Harbarger was jailed without bond at the Dona Ana County Jail. Jail records show Harbarger was also wanted on an outstanding warrant.
