LCPD: Woman steps on tray containing marijuana, stabbed by angry boyfriend
Las Cruces Police arrested a man accused of throwing a knife at his girlfriend, stabbing her in a leg.
Matthew Castillo, of the 1100 block of Montana Avenue, is charged with a felony count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and a misdemeanor count of battery against a household member.
On July 30, 2017, police were dispatched to Memorial Medical Center, where they spoke with Castillo’s girlfriend.
Investigators were told, that on the previous day, the woman accidentally stepped on a tray containing marijuana, spilling the substance on the floor.
At some point during the argument, Castillo allegedly grabbed a knife and threw it at the victim.
Police said the knife struck the woman’s leg, causing her injury.
The woman left the residence and, the following day, went to the hospital for treatment of her injury.
A warrant was issued for Castillo’s arrest and he was arrested Aug. 1, 2017. Castillo was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center where he’s initially being held without bond.
