NM Governor Susana Martinez welcomes Fedex to Santa Teresa
New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez helped cut the ribbon to signal the opening of a FedEx facility in Santa Teresa Wednesday.
The facility has 80 employees and FedEx will hire at least 50 percent more during the holiday season, said Kevin Dixon, Managing Director for the company’s Southwest District.
“We need people,” Dixon said.
Martinez said Santa Teresa had always been a “sleepy little town (and) quiet place to live, but look at it now.”
The governor said the new facility will ship packages “across New Mexico, across the country and across the world.”
The distribution center is 215,000 square feet.
“It didn’t happen overnight,” Martinez said.
