Plans announced for UTEP’s Minerpalooza 2017
The University of Texas at El Paso announced the line-up and features of Minerpalooza, its annual kick-off to the school year and college football season.
The free celebration is happening on Friday, Sept. 1, from 6 to 11 p.m. It marks its 27th year.
Organizers said in a news release that the musical talent includes headliner We the Kings, Jenny and the Mexicats and Prime 80’Z.
There will be also be food vendors and food trucks set up throughout the event grounds on the UTEP campus at the corner of Sun Bowl Drive and Glory Road.
Minerpalooza also serves as a fundraiser for UTEP’s student organizations, with many of them receiving funds from the family-friendly games and inflatables that operate at Pete’s Playground near the north entrance of the Sun Bowl.
Adult activities include a beer and wine garden and attractions from some of the event sponsors.
Free parking will be available around campus starting at 5 p.m. and there will be an ADA shuttle running between the Sun Bowl 2 (SB2) parking lot and the Minerpalooza venue starting at 5:30 p.m. and ending at 11:30 p.m. Parking will be free in the Sun Bowl and Schuster parking garages; parking in the Glory Road Parking Garage costs $10.
Minerpalooza is a concealed campus carry exclusion zone, and concealed handgun license carriers are not permitted to bring weapons into the event.
