Sen. Ted Cruz visits the Borderland Thursday
Sen. Ted Cruz is expected to start a two-day visit to the Borderland Thursday morning.
The first item on his agenda is a meeting with executives of Plastic Molding Technology around 9:30 a.m., and he will then take part in a town hall with employees.
Around 3 p.m. Thursday, Sen. Cruz will meet with Border Patrol officials to tour the U.S.-Mexico border with agents.
The last time he spoke in El Paso, Cruz said he supports building a border wall but said it can’t be the only solution.
Cruz said more boots on the ground and technology are needed.
As far as financing the wall, he proposed using seized money from drug traffickers as a part of the El Chapo Act.
At 6:00 p.m., Thursday, Sen. Cruz is scheduled to participate in a town hall with National Border Patrol Council President Brandon Judd.
Local activists have organized to protest his visit outside the venue.
He’ll end his tour Friday with a tour of Lucchese bootmaker.
In June, Cruz came to El Paso and spoke with business leaders about economic growth.
