3 charged, accused of firing weapon at off-duty Border Patrol agent

Investigators arrested three suspects who allegedly fired a weapon at an off-duty Border Patrol agent on I-10 East near Eastlake in Far East EL Paso County.

The shooting, reported at around 5 am, led to the temporary closure of eastbound lanes during the morning rush hour on Wednesday, October 25, 2017.

An investigation by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, El Paso FBI and the El Paso Border Patrol resulted in the identification of several suspects.

On Friday, October 27, 2017, investigators arrested Rafael Roberto Valenzuela and charged him with Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity and Aggravated Assault Deadly Weapon.

Valenzuela was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility under a $200,000 bond.

On Monday, October 30, 2017, investigators arrested Raul Beltran and charged him with Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity and Aggravated Assault Deadly Weapon.

Beltran was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility under a $75,000.

On Wednesday November 1, 2017, investigators arrested and Sebastian Aldaz and charged him with Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity and Aggravated Assault Deadly Weapon.

Aldaz is being held at the El Paso County Detention Facility under a $ 200,000 bond.

This case is still under investigation by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit.
