EPPD Gang Unit arrests three in violent Northeast El Paso home invasion

Police officers with the department’s Gang Unit arrested three men in connection to a violent home invasion in Northeast El Paso.

Police arrested 21-year-old Ivan Gutierrez, of Chaparral, New Mexico; 19-year-old Ace Isaac De Santiago, of El Paso; and 20-year-old Jose Aaron Portillo, of Chaparral, New Mexico.

The home invasion was reported shortly after 2 am on Sunday, November 4, 2017. Police say four women and three men were “punched, kicked, threatened and struck with a handgun” inside a residence on the 5300 block of Sanders.

The Gang Unit was able to identify Gutierrez, De Santiago, and Portillo as the individuals allegedly responsible. All three were arrested and booked into the El Paso County Jail.

Gutierrez is facing three counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Burglary of Habitation with Intent to Commit a Felony and two counts of Aggravated Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury. He was jailed on a$550,000 bond.

De Santiago was charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Burglary of Habitation with Intent to Commit a Felony. He was jailed on a $450,000 bond.

Portillo was charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault, a single count of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Burglary of Habitation with Intent to Commit a Felony. His bond was set at $350,000.

During the investigation, El Paso Police were led to a residence on the 9900 block of Ballistic. While there, investigators allegedly encountered a fourt suspect, 17-year-old Ramon Lerma Jr.

The teenager was allegedly in possession of 54 grams of marijuana and three grams of Alprazolam. Lerma Jr. was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance and booked into the County jail on a $2,300 bond.
