Louisiana Tech rolls past UTEP 42-21

UTEP’s struggling offense finally came to life Saturday afternoon at the Sun Bowl, unfortunately it was too little too late.

The Miners dropped their 11th straight loss of the season falling to the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs 42-21.

It was the final home game for the Miners this season and it was also the last time several of them would wear a UTEP uniform at the Sun Bowl.

The goal headed into Saturday’s game was to finally get the first win of the season, but it was an uphill battle from the very beginning.

Louisiana Tech jumped out to a 28-0 lead at the half.

The UTEP offense was finally able to put some points on the board in the 3rd quarter.

UTEP quarterback Ryan Metz threw 2 touchdown passes to cut the Bulldogs’ lead to 28-14.

But in the 4th quarter, Louisiana Tech added some insurance getting two more touchdowns to put away the Miners for good.

Metz finished the day with 202 yards, 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions.

Louisiana Tech quarterback Jamar Smith threw for 203 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Smith also rushed for 2 touchdowns.

Miners will have one final chance to get their first win of the season.

They’ll hit the road to take on the UAB Blazers next Saturday at 11 A.M.
