ESPN: Packers RB Aaron Jones facing charges after traffic stop

Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones is facing three charges following an October 1, 2017 traffic stop, ESPN reports.

The cable sports network cites Wisconsin Circuit Court records stating Jones was allegedly driving a vehicle with a controlled substance in his system, speeding at 79 mph in a 55 mph zone and operating a vehicle without a valid license.

According to a police report obtained by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, which first broke the news Monday, Jones admitted during the traffic stop he had smoked marijuana earlier that day.

ESPN reports no drugs were found in Jones’ possession, but police administered a sobriety test and took Jones to a local hospital for a blood test.

Jones, a former running back at the University of Texas at El Paso, entered a not guilty plea on Nov. 15, ESPN reports.

The running back is currently out injured. Prior to the injury, Jones had amassed 370 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 70 carries.

He was named the NFL’s Rookie of the Week following the Packers’ win over the Dallas Cowboys earlier this season. In that game, Jones had 19 carries for 125 yards and a rushing touchdown.
