CNN: Uber hacked in 2017, data of 57-million people exposed
Hackers accessed the data of nearly 57 million Uber users in 2016 and the company did not report the breach until November 21, 2017.
Uber said the hackers accessed the names, emails, addresses and phone numbers of millions of users, CNN reports.
The hackers also accessed the driver’s license information of nearly 600,000 drivers, CNN reports.
The Associated Press reports Uber’s current CEO, Dara Khosrowshahi, criticized the company’s handling of the data theft in a blog post that said there’s no evidence the stolen information has been misused.
Khosrowshahi reportedly launched an investigation into why Uber did not alert users or federal regulators.
