Memorial services announced for Border Patrol Agent Rogelio Martinez

The family of the slain Border Patrol agent has announced his memorial services.

ABC-7 is also learning more details about Rogelio Martinez, who died Sunday night while on duty in the Big Bend Sector.

According to his obituary, Martinez, 36, was a Class of 1999 Irvin High School graduate and was engaged to be married. He also had a son and two brothers.

Visitation for Martinez will be held Friday, Nov. 24 from 5-9pm at Martin Funeral Home Central, at 3839 Montana Ave. with a vigil beginning at 7pm.

The mass will be held Saturday, Nov. 25 at 1pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Martinez’s burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park at 8700 Dyer.

Friends told ABC-7 that the star on the mountain will be lit in Martinez’s honor on Saturday. The certificate from the Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce reads, “Roger, our beloved friend, son, father and dedicated agent. We will miss you dearly. Tonight we light up the star in your honor. We love you, our hero.”

His death — and the serious injuries sustained by his partner — is still being investigated.

Customs and Border Protection and the FBI held a joint news conference to address the investigation on Tuesday.
