Men’s Hoops: NMSU beats Colorado State thanks to Lofton’s big night

The New Mexico State men’s basketball team has now won four straight games against Mountain West competition after the Aggies beat Colorado State 89-76 at the Pan American Center Wednesday night.

Grad transfer Zach Lofton led the Aggies with 30 points on 12-15 shooting. Lofton added eight rebounds to help NMSU improve to 3-1 on the year.

Lofton has now scored 18 or more points in all four games this season and has tallied 25 or more in three of those four contests.

Eli Chuha added 24 points off the bench as NMSU recorded its highest point total of the season thus far.

NMSU shot 58.6% from the floor while holding CSU to a 43.3% clip.

The Aggies also avenged last year’s 64-61 loss at Colorado State with the win. The Rams have now lost their last three games to fall to 2-3 on the year.

NMSU will next play UTEP at the Pan American Center at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 25. The Aggies will then play at UTEP five days later on Nov. 30.
