Socorro man charged with possession of child porn
A “drunk disturbance” led El Paso police detectives to the Paso Del Norte Port of Entry, where they caught an alleged child sex predator, court documents state.
Rudy Gomez Jr., of the 300 block of McCutchen in Socorro, is charged with Possession of Child Pornography.
Police said Gomez Jr. was detained by U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers after he entered the U.S. at the Paso del Norte Port of Entry on November 23, 2017.
CBP officers noticed Gomez was not only accompanied by an unrelated 16-year-old girl, but was also in possession of suspicious items in his vehicle, police said. The CBP officers notified the police department and detectives responded to the bridge to conduct an investigation.
After executing search warrants on Gomez’s vehicle and cell phone, detectives allegedly found a video featuring the 16-year-old girl with Gomez Jr. The video allegedly shows Gomez Jr. having sex with the girl, court documents state.
Under interrogation, the girl allegedly told detectives Gomez knew she was underage and they frequently visited Juarez, where they had sex.
Gomez was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on a $150,000 bond.
