Former LCPD officer recognized for singing career

A cop-turned-country crooner is getting recognition from Rolling Stone.

Frank Gomez, whose stage name is Frank Ray, was named one of Rolling Stone Country’s Top 10 Country Artists You Need To Know for December.

ABC-7 reported when Gomez left his job as a Las Cruces Police Department officer in August, after ten years on the force, to pursue a music career.

Rolling Stone said in a write-up that since then, his status has been growing, highlighting that the lead single “Every Time You Run” on his solo debut EP, “Different Kind of Country,” is currently making its way toward the Top 20 of the Texas Regional Radio Report.
