NMSU completes long road trip with win at CSU Bakersfield
The NMSU men’s basketball team closed an eight-game stretch away from the Pan American Center with a win at CSU Bakersfield Saturday night.
NMSU went 7-1 on the extended road trip with wins over Miami and Illinois and the only loss coming against USC.
Things didn’t look promising for the Aggies in Bakersfield early Saturday night. CSUB jumped out to a 16-8 lead before NMSU was finally able to settle into the game.
The Aggies had taken a one-point lead by halftime and blew the game open in the second half to secure a 66-53 win.
Zach Lofton scored 28 points on 8-12 shooting to lead NMSU while Eli Chuha added 16 points of his own.
The Aggies improved to 15-3 overall and 3-0 in WAC play with the victory. NMSU and Utah Valley are now the only two unbeaten teams in conference action.
The Aggies finally return home Thursday against Seattle, which currently sits at 2-1 in WAC play.
NMSU will then host Utah Valley on Saturday, Jan. 20 in a game that could be for sole possession of first in the WAC.
