El Paso airport to increase services to Chicago

Starting April 4th, the El Paso International Airport will add a non-stop flight to Chicago and increase seat capacity.

Daily non-stop flights on American Airlines will be upgraded from a Bombardier CRJ-700 with 63 seats to a roomy Boeing 737-800 with 154 seats. Flights will be increased from once to twice daily, departing El Paso at 7:00 a.m. and 1:07 p.m.

“Our airline partners are taking notice that El Paso has a vibrant regional economy and there are economic opportunities that they and residents, businesses and visitors can all benefit from,” Mayor Dee Margo said.

“Airport staff has been working towards the strategic goal to grow the core business of air transportation. They have upgraded the terminal, operated with fiscal responsibility and are continuously communicating with the airlines. Their hard work and dedication shows in the results: Nine additional flights in the past three years,” City Manager Tommy Gonzalez said.

“Enhanced access to Chicago will benefit both business and leisure travelers with the scheduling flexibility and additional opportunities to connect to the East Coast, Europe and Asia.
