El Pasoans attend first farmer’s market at Kern Place
If you’re in Kern Place, you may notice the new lights, archway and street improvements in the area. Residents checked out the renovations at the neighborhood’s very first Sunday morning farmer’s market.
There was yoga, food and plenty of different vendors. Residents who live nearby said they were happy to see life fill the streets, that were once under construction.
“We’re glad to finally see that all the construction has finally calmed down and everything’s coming together,” one Kern Place resident said.
District 1 City Representative Peter Svarzbein’s office came up with the idea to hold a farmer’s market.
“We’ve been planning this for a little under 2 months,” he said. “We were booked with our vendors the first week of January. We wanted to show that something different could happen in this area and start the year off right. The street car is coming in and with that comes new opportunities.”
Svarzbein couldn’t say when the next market will be held, but he said he hopes it can become a tradition. Sunday’s market was from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Cincinnati St.
