Underwater robotics competition draws dozens from across the state

More than 30 teams came from different parts of the state of Texas to compete in a local underwater robotics competition.

The event was held Saturday at Armijo Swimming Pool.

The competition was a chance for middle school and high school students to learn new STEM-related activities to achieve the goal of going to nationals.

“Robotics has let me know what I want to do in the future,” said high school student Nayely Gomez. “I want to be a robotics engineer and it’s really helped me experience what it’s going to be like in the future.”

Harmony Public Schools, which sponsored the event with the U.S. Navy, said they provide students many opportunities and experiences to allow students to become aware, explore and plan for a career.
