CBP seizes more than $3.9 million in liquid meth

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers seized 164.5 pounds of liquid meth with an estimated street value of $3.948 million Friday at the Paso Del Norte international crossing.

CBP officers were performing a sweep of vehicles when a drug sniffing dog alerted to a 1989 Chevrolet pick-up. During a search CBP officers removed six containers filled with liquid meth from a gas tank compartment.

“Smugglers spent considerable time and effort to conceal this liquid meth load,” said Beverly Good, CBP El Paso Port Director. “This seizure proves again that smugglers will use any available space in a vehicle to hide their contraband.”

CBP arrested the driver, a 37-year-old male of Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico. He was turned over to Homeland Security Investigations to face charges associated with the failed smuggling attempt.
