Chihuahuas make it interesting, but still fall to Padres, 8-6

The boys of summer returned home to Southwest University Park Monday night.

The El Paso Chihuahuas hosted an exhibition game against their parent club the San Diego Padres.

In a game that was very entertaining, the Chihuahuas lost a close one to the Padres by a final score of 8-6.

The Dogs would get on the board first in the bottom of the 2nd inning after a 2-run home run by Rudy Giron.

With the game tied at two in the top of the 4th, San Diego would jump out in front following a solo homer by Freddy Galvis.

The Padres would never give up the lead from that point on.

The Chihuahuas would make it interesting tying the game at 6 in the bottom of the 7th.

But the Padres would answer in the top of the 8th scoring one run and then adding another run for insurance in the top of the 9th.

The Chihuahuas will now get ready for the start of the season on the road against Las Vegas on April 5th.

Then it’s on to Opening Day at Southwest University Park when the the Chihuahuas host Salt Lake City on April 10th.
