Parkland RB Deion Hankins named to Subway Super Team
Subway and Dave Campbell’s Texas Football teamed up to honor one of the best players in El Paso Thursday.
Parkland running back Deion Hankins was named to the Subway Super Team, which recognizes the top returning players in the state.
Hankins enters his senior season with huge expectations after posting back-to-back seasons with more than 2,000 rushing yards. That included 2,812 yards his sophomore season, which was the second-highest total in the state, according to MaxPreps.
Hankins was joined by friends and teammates in a special ceremony at Parkland Thursday afternoon. He was presented with a trophy and coupons for free Subway – which he says is much appreciated.
“Well, every time I go to lunch, I go to Subway. And I usually get the steak and cheese with some mayo, you know. I just get the foot long one,” he said.
Hankins added that he is not bothered by the expectations others have for his upcoming season. And his coach, Eric Frontz, agreed that if anyone can handle the pressure, it’s Deion.
“Yeah, well, you know, Deion is a great kid, and we’re definitely excited to have him back for another year,” said Frontz. “What a great honor for him. Not very many people in the state receive this kind of award. So, we’re proud of him, and we’re extremely happy for him.”
