Chihuahuas fall Wednesday against Tacoma; lost 7 of last 8

The Chihuahuas continued to struggle Wednesday night, falling 8-5 at home against Tacoma.

The Dogs have now lost five games in a row and seven of their last eight to fall to 18-16 overall.

El Paso struck first in the bottom of the second on an RBI single courtesy of Stephen McGee, but Tacoma would respond with five unanswered runs. Two of those runs came in the third on a Taylor Motter home run. Three more came in the top of the fifth as the Rainiers jumped out to a 5-1 lead.

The Rainiers improved to 16-17 with the win and have now taken the first two games of the series in El Paso.

Franmil Reyes went 0-3 with a walk to end his nine-game hit streak. That streak also included eight consecutive games with at least two hits.

The Chihuahuas trailed 8-2 entering the bottom of the ninth but made it a bit interesting by scoring three runs. However, the hill was too steep as Tacoma held on for the win.

The two teams will meet again Thursday at 6:35 p.m. and Friday at 7:05 p.m. at Southwest University Park.
