Texas teacher fired for profane texts about autistic student

A South Texas teacher has been fired after sending profane texts about a student with autism to the boy’s mother.

The Daily News reports that a Levi Fry Intermediate School teacher sent two texts to Tiffany Lynn Elfstrom about her 13-year-old son.

The messages show the teacher referring to the boy with expletives and complaining about him wanting to go home. Elfstrom says the texts were intended for someone else.

The Texas City Independent School District investigated the incident after Elfstrom notified the school’s principal.

Spokeswoman Melissa Tortorici says the teacher no longer has a contract with the district.

Elfstrom says she’s happy with the outcome. She says teachers must have patience with special needs students.

Tortorici says Elfstrom’s son will be shown respect and care when he returns to school.
