El Paso students experience connectivity issues during STAAR testing

STAAR Testing is still underway for students across El Paso, but according to the Texas Education Agency, thousands of students across the state experienced connectivity issues Tuesday morning while taking the assessment.

EPISD:

El Paso Independent School District Spokeswoman Melissa Martinez told ABC-7 10 campuses reported technical issues. She said students were able to reboot and log back in after a short time.

Martinez said the district will be surveying the affected campuses this week to determine the full impact of time lost. However, the district believes all students were able to complete the test. In the event that a student was unable to complete it, TEA has allowed the district to resume testing another day.

SISD:

According to Socorro Independent School District Spokesman Daniel Escobar, 400 students were testing online Tuesday and experienced a number of connectivity issues. 100 students were unable to complete their test because of those issues. They will be testing Thursday finish the portion they missed.

Clint ISD:

According to Clint Independent School District Spokeswoman Laura Cade, elementary and middle school students experienced intermittent connectivity issues between 8:30 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. Tuesday. The district is aware of the problem and campus teams were advised to maintain a calm testing environment for students until the issue was resolved. All students were able to log back in and finish their exam mid-morning.

The TEA told ABC-7 it is working with Education Testing Services to determine the cause of the slow down and the cause of the connectivity issues.
