EPISD Film Festival to award students’ work
The El Paso Independent School District will host its annual film festival awards Friday night where students will be awarded for their creative minds.
More than 400 students participated to create 115 submissions from 24 campuses across El Paso County.
“It opens their eyes to be able to know what they can do. It brings out their creativity,” said Sarah Matthews, technology teacher at Logan Elementary School.
Matthews helped several of her students brainstorm ideas for their films and guided them through the editing process.
“The hardest was finding pictures and then finding who was going to be director,” said Eric Leo, a 4th grader at Logan Elementary.
Eric and three other group members submitted an animated film about twin super heroes.
There were so many submissions this year that the elementary school category has an awards ceremony of its own.
Fourth grader Denise Rodriguez said it all comes down to Friday night’s ceremony.
“I’m excited for it and I’m nervous because I think other people’s are good too. They can do better than us but I think we can still do good,” Denise said.
The EPISD Film Festival awards ceremony is Firday night at 6 p.m. at Bowie High School.
