Suspect indicted in Dallas shootings that left officer dead, former El Pasoan wounded
A suspect has been indicted over gunfire last month at a Home Depot that left one Dallas police officer dead and another wounded.
Dallas County District Attorney Faith Johnson on Tuesday announced Armando Luis Juarez has been indicted on capital murder and attempted capital murder charges.
A worker at the home improvement store was also shot April 24 while confronting a shoplifting suspect. Juarez, who remains in custody, also faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, plus two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on a public servant.
Officer Rogelio Santander died April 25. Officer Crystal Almeida, who was born in El Paso and graduated from Americas High School, was discharged Sunday from a hospital. Home Depot employee Scott Painter was discharged May 7.
An attorney for Juarez didn’t immediately return a message for comment Tuesday.
