Chihuahuas take the first two games of their series vs. Tacoma

The El Paso Chihuahuas have taken the first two games of their series with the Tacoma Rainiers after winning game two Tuesday night by a final of 11-6.

Tacoma jumped out early after Taylor Motter drove in Cameron Perkins with a single in the first.

In the top of the second inning, the Dogs opened it up by scoring five runs to take the lead, 5-1.

But the Rainiers answered right back with four runs of their own in the bottom of the second to tie things up at five.

With two men on in the top of the fifth, Austin Hedges blasted a shot to center, putting the Chihuahuas up 8-5.

The very next inning Brett Nicholas thought, If Austin Hedges can do it, I can do it, too! He then crushed a ball to right field with a man on base, upping the score to 10-5 at that point.

In the top of the ninth, Hedges grounded into a double play but was still able to pick up an RBI, giving the Dogs an 11-5 lead.

Tacoma, still showing a little life in the bottom of the ninth, tacked on a run when Cameron Perkins drove in Ian Miller on an RBI groundout. But the Rainiers were unable to close the gap completely, falling 11-6.

The Chihuahuas have two more games in Tacoma before heading to Fresno for a five-game stand.

This win brings the Dogs back up to .500 (23-23) with seven more games still to come on this extended road trip.
