Deputies arrest man who tried to flee in Clint

El Paso County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a wanted man who tried to flee from them in Clint on Wednesday.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a disturbance along the 1500 block of South Darrington Road.

Upon arrival, officers tried to make contact with Fernando Montoya, age 35.

Montoya ran from deputies into the nearby desert area. Shortly after, Montoya was arrested by deputies along the 14600 block of Quarter Horse Street.

Montoya was arrested and booked into county jail. He is facing charges of assault on a public servant, evading detention, resisting arrest, search or transport, failure to identify himself as a fugitive from justice and having an outstanding warrant for possession of a controlled substance.
