Man convicted in deadly stabbing gets 50 years in prison

A man convicted for an October 2015 murder in El Paso county has been sentenced to 50 years in prison.

In addition to the prison sentence, Edgar Cardenas has been ordered to pay a fine of $10,000 for the conviction.

On October 31, 2015, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a medical call service at the 100 block of Dixie in Canutillo, Texas.

Deputies discovered several people attended a house party where a fight took place.

Deputies learned Luis Francisco Delgado received several stab wounds during the fight. Delgado was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Crime Scene Unit took over the investigation and later identified Cardenas as the person responsible for the stabbing.
