Police identify pedestrian killed by train in Lower Valley

Police Wednesday identified the El Paso man who died following a train collision.

According to officers with the Special Traffic Investigator’s unit (STI), Alberto Cardenas, 28, was walking along the tracks at the 7900 block of Alameda when he was struck by a Union Pacific Train.

It happened shortly before 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29th.

Officers responding to the incident pronounced Cardenas dead at the scene.

Police continue their investigation.
