Man struck by S.U.V. dies from his injuries

An El Paso man struck by an S.U.V. Friday night died from his injuries the following day, police said

Special Traffic investigators said Manuel Castillo, 52, was not in a crosswalk when he tried crossing Paisano Drive about 10 p.m. Friday. He was hit by a Ford Explorer driven by 55-year-old Ramiro Diaz, who remained on the scene.

Castillo was taken with serious injuries to University Medical Center, where he died the next day.

This is the 22nd traffic-related death of 2018 compared with 20 during this same time period in 2017.
