Chihuahuas split doubleheader Monday against the Iowa Cubs

The El Paso Chihuahuas split Monday’s doubleheader against the Iowa Cubs in Des Moines with the Cubs taking game one, 6-5, and the Chihuahuas bouncing back in game two, 3-0.

The Cubs found themselves down three runs after the top of the first in game one, but rallied to claim a one-run victory.

The Chihuahuas out-hit the Cubs 10-8 in game one, but were on the wrong side of a 6-5 scoreline.

However, the Dogs rebounded nicely in game two, posting their fifth shutout of the season while scoring three runs themselves.

The Chihuahuas held Iowa to just two hits in the second game of the doubleheader, which was played to make-up for the fact that Sunday’s game was canceled due to wet grounds.

Both games Monday were limited to just seven innings instead of the traditional nine.

The Dogs are now 32-33 on the year after Monday’s results while the Cubs are now 24-38.

El Paso gets the day off Tuesday before beginning a new three-game series at home against Nashville on Wednesday at 7:05 p.m.
