Immigration advocates to march, protest Trump Administration’s ‘zero tolerance policy’

Immigration advocates plan to march Tuesday morning, at the helm of Border Network for Human Rights, to protest President Trump administration’s “zero tolerance policy” on immigration.

The residents are reportedly from both West Texas and New Mexico and plan to meet at the Edgemere Park located at the intersection of Edgemere Blvd. and Likins Dr. at 9 a.m. The group will then march to the El Paso Processing Center at 8915 Montana Ave.

BNHR says the group is protesting the “mass incarceration of immigrant families seeking asylum and refuge in the United states, and the abhorrent proposal to incarcerate migrant children separated from their parents and families on military bases.”

The Trump administration is enforcing a rule of criminally prosecuting any adult caught crossing the border illegally rather than referring those with families to immigration courts as previous administrations have done.

“If Democrats would sit down instead of obstructing we could have something done very quickly – good for the children, good for the country, good for the world,” President Trump said this week.

“BNHR strongly believes that immigrant families should not be separated so they can be detained, children should never be detained, and the use of military bases to hold immigrant children and families is a grave violation of human rights that transgresses core American values.”
