EPPD charge men who allegedly carjacked couple sitting in a car
Police arrested two men accused of carjacking a couple sitting in a car.
Edward Mercado, 23, and Ruben Galindo, 24, are charged with Aggravated Robbery.
At 2:30 a.m. on June 16, 2018, police officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of Diego Rivera on a carjacking.
One of the suspects was allegedly wielding a knife and the other was allegedly wielding a handgun when they stole the victim’s vehicle. Auto
Officers with a task force later spotted the stolen vehicle and notified police officers investigating the armed robbery in East El Paso.
On Wednesday, police officers arrested Mercado and recovered the stolen vehicle and the gun believed used in the robbery.
Thursday night, police officers arrested Galindo.
Mercado is charged with Aggravated Robbery, Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon and Possession of a Controlled Substance. His bonds totaled $81,000.
Galindo is charged with Aggravated Robbery and theft. His bonds totaled $78,800 bond. Galindo had various traffic warrants, police said.
