Chihuahuas make it 7 straight wins with victory Tuesday
The El Paso Chihuahuas overcame an early 4-0 deficit Tuesday night en route to a 9-5 victory over the Fresno Grizzlies at Southwest University Park.
The Dogs have now won seven in a row and sit four games above .500 at 41-37. The Grizzlies fell to 46-31 with the loss.
Fresno scored one in the top of the first and three in the second before El Paso found its offense in the bottom of the third.
The Chihuahuas would end up scoring six runs in the third inning to take a 6-4 lead. Shane Peterson jump-started the scoring with a two run homer early in the inning. Peterson now has six hits and six RBI in the last two games the Dogs have played against Fresno.
The Dogs added three more in the bottom of the fourth to take a 9-4 lead. Franmil Reyes drove in two runs in the inning on a double to increase El Paso’s cushion. Reyes, who recently spent time with the Padres, went 2-4 with two doubles and three RBI Tuesday night.
Fresno stranded 21 runners on base and compounded their issues with a pair of defensive errors.
The two teams will meet again Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. for the third game in their four-game series.
