Chihuahuas stumble Thursday against Fresno; win streak ends at 8
The El Paso Chihuahuas lost their first game in over a week Thursday night at home at the hands of the Fresno Grizzlies.
The Grizzlies jumped out to a 5-0 lead by the third inning and never looked back as they cruised to a 12-4 win.
The Chihuahuas had won their last eight games, tying a franchise record, before finally falling Thursday night. The team now has four different eight-game win streaks in its history but has never reached nine consecutive victories.
Fresno connected on four home runs in Thursday’s game and racked up 17 total hits. Six different Grizzlies had multiple hits and five players scored multiple runs.
El Paso’s bullpen also saw its streak of dominance come to an end. The bullpen had gone 16 straight appearances without surrendering a run, but the Grizzlies managed to tally six runs against the bullpen Thursday night.
The Chihuahuas will try to get back to their winning ways Friday at home at 7:05 p.m. against Albuquerque.
