Texas judge acquitted in road rage incident

A South Texas judge may soon return to the bench after being cleared of a felony in an alleged gun-related road rage incident.

The Caller Times reports a Bexar County judge on Tuesday dismissed a second felony count against State District Judge Guy Williams of Corpus Christi. The 68-year-old was indicted last year on two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, one of which was dismissed by a Nueces County jury in March.

Williams pleaded not guilty to charges alleging he tried to run another vehicle off the road and pointed a gun at its occupants in April 2017.

Williams still faces separate legal issues after being arrested in May on suspicion of public intoxication and resisting arrest.

A State Commission on Judicial Conduct official says Williams will likely have his suspension lifted after the felony dismissal.
