Sheriff’s office identifies suspect in deadly Socorro stabbing

Investigators identified the suspect in a deadly stabbing in Socorro as 34-year-old Catalino Romero.

Romero was booked into the County Jail on a $1-million bond.

At approximately 9:30 p.m. on July 11, 2018, the Socorro Police Department and Tigua Tribal Police were sent to a residence on the 1100 block of Tomas Granillo street in Socorro, Texas to investigate a stabbing.

The listed address is on tribal land.

Police found 20-year-old Emilio Gonzalez suffering from a stab wound. Gonzalez was rushed to a hospital, where he later died, the sheriff’s office said.

The Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit is currently conducting the investigation.
