Las Cruces woman dead following mobile home fire

A 47 year-old Las Cruces woman passed away following a deadly fire at her mobile home in Las Cruces.

Doña Ana County Sheriff’s detectives continue to investigate the death of Shannon Evans, who passed away inside her home on the 300 block of Armstrong Road.

On Friday, July 13th, deputies and crews with the Doña Ana County Fire and Emergency Services were dispatched to the fire just after midnight. First responders arrived to the scene of a 12 by 64 foot single-wide mobile home fully engulfed in flames.

Shortly after extinguishing the flames, fire crews discovered the body of Evans inside a bedroom on her bed. Evans had been living on the property for three years before her death.

An autopsy of the body was conducted at the University of New Mexico Office of the Medical Examiner, while detectives continue to investigate what led to the fire.
